Outsourcing not an option for workforce planning Outsourcing may not be a good option for organizational workforce planning because VS Lecoin s Family Hospital is a family and community run organization and outsourcing will not allow the organization to maintain a warm community atmosphere. Outsourcing creates an atmosphere where patients may interact with third party vendors during customer service calls or emergency calls with employees more likely not from the same country, familiar or fluent with the English language, or speak the language very clearly enough for the patients to understand (Cotriss, 2009). Socially outsourcing creates a hardship for locals to access the position because the positions is would be offered to vendors outside the country. Outsourcing is a conflict of interest if VS Lecoin s Family Hospital hires outside of the community instead of hiring within the community, this would not create a community atmosphere that goes against VS Lecoin s Family Hospital goal. Qualitative and Quantitative Research Approaches - 2955 Words
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Abstract Sports fandom consists of cognitive and affective, as well as behavioural components. Existing sports fan research utilises either strong qualitative, or more often, strong quantitative methodologies. The strengths and weaknesses of each approach are outlined, developing the argument that the use of a single methodology often fails to explore all of these components. The use of a mixed methods approach is suggested to counteract this weakness and to enhance research into the sports fan. Introduction Although interest in the sports fan dates back to the beginning of this century, there is little empirical research on the subject (Burca, Brannick,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦These may be summarised as follows: Quantitative methodologies are appropriate to measure overt behaviour. They are also strong in measuring descriptive aspects, such as the composition of the sports crowd. Quantitative methodologies allow comparison and replication. Reliability and validity may be determined more objectively than qualitative techniques. These strengths however, are not the sole prerogative of quantitative designs. Indeed, many of the arguments for the use of quantitative research, especially in an academic climate where resources are limited, have pragmatic origins in terms of allowing large scale data collection and analysis at reasonable cost and effort, as well as providing statistical proof. The weaknesses of such quantitative research designs lie mainly in their failure to ascertain deeper underlying meanings and explanations of sports fandom, even when significant, reliable and valid. The quantitative assumption regarding fandom is that people can be reduced to a set of variables which are somehow equivalent across persons and across situations (Reason Rowan, 1981, p. xiv). Quantitative research is strong in measuring such variables, and, if this measurement is the focus of the research, such as the case with the Premier League survey, then a quantitative approach may be justified. However, as noted earlier, psychological factors, such as affect and cognition, are important to the concept of sports fandom.Show MoreRelatedQualitative and Quantitative Approaches1126 Words à |à 5 Pagesï » ¿ Qualitative and Quantitative Approaches RES/351 June 17, 2014 University of Phoenix Professor Pamela Campbell Qualitative and Quantitative Approaches Business researchers utilize various forms of approaches to analyze and obtain information and data, and two of the most popular approaches used are the qualitative research approach and quantitative research approach. Compare and Contrast Essay free essay sample
The differences between a narrative and a descriptive essay determine the way in which the reader receives the story. The purpose of each is still very clear, to connect to the reader using story telling. In order for the reader to receive the story as intended, the author must create a clear picture of; events, settings, and purpose. In both pieces that I read, ââ¬Å"Fish Cheeksâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Caged Birdâ⬠, both writers were able to do this- each in their own way. The first difference between Fish Cheeks and Caged Birds is the format of the literature. Amy Tan in Fish Cheeks chose to write a short descriptive essay (Tan, 2013). While Maya Angelou wrote in Caged Bird, a narrative in a poem format (Angelou, 1983). Each individual artist had a certain way in which, they wanted to express a significant event that they have learned throughout their life. I felt that it was easier to relate to Amy Tans message because she had taken her story from a past personal experience. Lastly, New Orleans night life is full of fun. There is something to do every day of the week not Just on weekends. The night life starts at around 12:AMA and could last until 5:AMA when the clubs and bars close. Since New Orleans Is a party city the people are totally different from Baton Rouge people. New Orleans people are more about going out frequently to have a good time, spend unnecessary money, and compete with the next person to look good. They are so caught up in trying to live the Glamorous life that they dont realize they are spending more than average and begin living beyond their means. As far as Baton Rouge, the food Is less tasteful because a lot of Ingredients that re used in New Orleans are not sold in Baton Rouge thats needed for certain foods. The spicy and Cajun food in Baton Rouge is not as spicy as the Cajun and spicy food in New Orleans. Certain Food such as Hot Sausage can only be found in as links but in New Orleans you can find both links and patties. Another point that makes the two cities different is the type of music that most people listen to. In Baton Rouge they have they own type of style of music which Is called GIG music.Gig music Is quite different from bounce music which Is played In New Orleans. Bounce can be slow or fast and its made from RB and Hip Hop when Gig music is fast paced music that can only be on a fast beat to get you wound up, sweaty, and itll have your heart racing. A lot of yelling throughout the songs in Gig music is done. Now, as far as the Baton Rouge people night life and way of living, Its a huge difference between the two clues. The people In Baton Rouge do not party Monday thru Friday like in New Orleans and when they do party everything shuts down at 2:AMA.This means they have to start their night life at around 2:AMA. Since they only party two to three times per week they are able to save more money. Last but not least, Baton Rouge residents in my opinion live a much more secure and safe life. One reason being is that they are more family oriented. Their priorities are lines up because they are not too much as worrying about partying because of the limited opportunity and they are not trying to keep up with the next person. Therefore, Baton Rouge people can spend Orleans person. In conclusion, you can see how different the city of New Orleans and the city of Baton Rouge are as I have described the abundance of differences. I can honestly say if youre a person thinking for the future and not the present, Baton Rouge would be a better place to become financially stable and raise a better family then in New Orleans. At the end of the day there are many more ways the two cities of Baton Rouge and New Orleans are different that would make this list go on and on. Both cities are great in their own way. It Just all comes down to what you as a person want to do in life.

GatsbyDaisy Essay Example For Students
GatsbyDaisy Essay In one of the greatest works of the Twentieth Century, TheGreat Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald, there are many dynamic andround characters which greatly add to the storys theme. Onecharacter, Daisy Fay Buchannon, is made essential by way of herrelation to the theme. With her multi-dimensional personalityand relation to the conflicts, she becomes needed in order toconvey the meaning. Not only this, but she is also an importantDaisy Buchannon is a round and dynamic character with manydifferent sides to her personality. Early on in the book, she isportayed as sweet and innocent. Her white and seemingly floatingdress appeals to Nick in this way. She grew up as the mostpopular of all the young girls in Louisville. Even then shedressed in white. Daisy also keeps a daughter around as a showtoy. Whenever company comes over, she beckons for the littlegirl to come and put on a little act for everyone. This issignifies her life. She is kept in the closet until its time toshow off for company. Dai sy becomes radiant and personable. When everyone has gone, she is a bored housewife, of noimportance to the world wondering aloud what she is going to dowith the rest of her life. She appears to be bored yet innocentand harmless. Yet her innocense is false. Simply a materialisticyoung girl and has little mind of her own is underneath all ofthat covering. Daisy rediscovers her love with Gatsby because ofhis nice shirts and large house. Daisy has been well trained ina rich family. She has grown up with all of the best. WhenGatsby failed to contact her, she went off and married anotherman, without evening having heard word from Gatsby. All of thesemany and round characteristics add complications to the plot anddimension to the meaning she adds to the book. The afore mentioned characteristics also help to create someof the main conflicts. Daisy was involved in the conflictbetween her and Tom. Tom had a mistress and Daisy was upset byit. Another conlfict is her love affair with Gatsby. Herappearent sweetness and innocence allow Gatsby to fall in lovewith her. But her impatience and ingorance of true love or themeaning of truth or compassion allow her to flawlessly marry Tom,without a sober thought of Gatsby. He falls for her, which leadsup to the futher conflict. The conflict is, whether or not shewill fall in love with Gatsby. Gatsby is still in love with herafter five years. He hopes and dreams that she is too. Thiscreates another conflict: Gatsbys dream. When Gatsby wasseventeen, he dreamed of being rich and powerful. When he mentDaisy, his dream changed. His goal was to see if he could reachhis dream. This conflict helps to add up to the main theme. The way the conflicts created by Daisy help the theme arenumerous. The most significant way is that she is the centralcorruption of Gatsbys dream. The dream began as a simple bidfor happiness. Yet Gatsby was corrupted by money. He wantedmoney. He believed that money would make him happy. When hebecame rich, his dream was then centered upon Daisy. Daisy wasthe only thing (or at least he thought) between him andhappiness. This personifies the meaning being conyed byFitzgerald. That the American dream has been corrupted by money. Another theme is that everything is not as it appears. Daisyappears to be sweet, innocent, and intelligent. While underneathher white dress lies a corrutped innerself. She is crude andshowy, all an act to attract people to her. This theme isdisplated in almost every character. Everyone appears to besomeone theyre not, just as people in the society of the 1920s. .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a , .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a .postImageUrl , .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a , .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a:hover , .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a:visited , .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a:active { border:0!important; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a:active , .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc0d365e6e5e35cd0c04c0dfc8bacaa9a:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: surgery EssayWith prohibtiion and the extremely active nightlife of theRoaring 20s, everyone had something to hide. Gay Marriage Essay Research Paper Discrimination is free essay sample
Gay Marriage Essay, Research Paper Discrimination is the Voice of Ignorance Marriage is one of the cardinal constitutions of the United States. As a immature individual, one looks frontward to many ends in their life-time: calling success, a good life, and really frequently matrimony to the individual they love and a household together. This is one of the biggest parts of our # 8220 ; American life # 8221 ; and civilization. Very few straight persons would be willing to set their right to get married on a ballot for elector blessing, or even in their wildest dreams [ incubuss? ] have to see making that. However, in the past 10 old ages that is a prospect homosexual work forces and adult females are confronting all over our United States. Why is American civilization so unaccepting of homosexual matrimonies and what are the reprocutions of this for homosexual twosomes and for all of our citizens? Homosexuality, as a life style has ever been under great fire in our civilization. We will write a custom essay sample on Gay Marriage Essay Research Paper Discrimination is or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Homosexuality has been defined and termed in many contexts. The West Chester University Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Services states that, Given the variable facets of sexual orientation and given grounds that an single # 8217 ; s sexual orientation may alter over clip, it is hard to supply a precise and universally recognized definition of homosexualism. In general footings, homosexualism may be described as the capacity to happen fondness and or sexual satisfaction with person of the same gender. Focus laminitis and cardinal Christian leader, James Dobson, nevertheless, merely defines homosexualism as a wickedness and says homophiles can be cured in God # 8217 ; s name ( Egelko, 3/2000 p2 ) . As one can see from these two illustrations entirely, the definition of this lifestyle International Relations and Security Network # 8217 ; Ts focused entirely on what a homosexual is, but instead how persons feel about the manner of life. In twenty-four hours to twenty-four hours life, the homosexual life style is most likely non much different from the heterosexual or # 8220 ; straight # 8221 ; life style. A homosexual still gets up in the forenoon and goes to work or to school. They still have dinner with household or friends, take part in athleticss and community organisations and events. And yes, they still hold stable relationships, merely like a adult male and adult females would, they still go through the ups and downs of a relationship, confronting the same joyous minutes, and same difficult times with an person they love. The homophobia that has spread through our state like wildfire since the # 8220 ; outing # 8221 ; of homophiles became more common and acceptable undermines these common variables between homosexual and heterosexual twosomes. One of the largest differences for a homosexual is populating a life of fright. Along with all of their twenty-four hours to twenty-four hours activities that mirror any heterosexual, they must besides cover with the emphasis of being # 8220 ; different # 8221 ; and being # 8220 ; unacceptable # 8221 ; to the society which they are a portion of. They must cognize the topographic points they are welcomed as an # 8220 ; outted # 8221 ; gay individual, and the 1s where they must conceal their true individualities. As good, they are non granted many of the rights a heterosexual takes for granted. They can non register for revenue enhancements along with their spouse, can non have medical benefits or wellness insurance under their spouses coverage, as most hubby and married womans do, and most basically, they can non make a bond of integrity to show their love through a legal matrimony ( France, 2/2000 p2 ) . Marriage has been a alone portion of our civilization since its beginning. Webster # 8217 ; s Collegiate Dictionary defines matrimony as # 8220 ; to fall in or unify a hubby and wife. # 8221 ; As good, many churches quote like definitions. The Catholic Church, for illustration, relies on Jesus # 8217 ; statement about a adult male and his married woman going one flesh, neer to be separated ( Egelko, 3/2000 p1 ) . And West Virginia Governor, Cecil Underwood, merely asked the legislative assembly to set on all matrimony licences and applications: # 8220 ; Marriage is designed to be a loving and womb-to-tomb brotherhood between a adult female and a adult male # 8221 ; ( Bundy, 1/2000 p1 ) . The argument comes over whether or non these definitions are merely traditional in their diction of # 8220 ; adult male and married woman # 8221 ; or if that is genuinely the manner it is meant to be. This brings up the issue of whether spiritual or secular definitions should predominate and how to travel about altering or amending these definitions. If a matrimony is genuinely a integrity of two persons in love, nevertheless, who is the concluding decision-maker in how far those lines can be drawn? Is it truly the topographic point of our authorities, or even ourselves to state a twosome, irrespective of their gender or gender that they may non be united lawfully in their love? This inquiry, one of morality and of legality, has become a urgent issue in many provinces in the recent old ages. At the present twenty-four hours, no province in America has legalized the matrimony of a same-sex twosome ( Swanson, 3/2000 p2 ) . However, the latest tendency in statute law is towards a prohibition on formalizing a matrimony of a same-sex twosome that has been legalized in another province or state. The first measure which initiated this proposition came in Hawaii and began in 1994. Hawaii # 8217 ; s tribunals have held that denying matrimony licences to same-sex twosomes is a misdemeanor of the province # 8217 ; s fundamental law ( Gallagher, 6/98 p2 ) . In 1997, homosexual twosomes in Hawaii petitioned for legal acknowledgment and won a innovative via media: domestic partnership ( Wolf, 2/98 p1 ) . Although this is non a matrimony licence, it does assure a more valid partnership in the eyes of the tribunals and of the society for the hereafter. At the same clip, nevertheless, 30 provinces have now passed prohibitions on same-sex matrimonies outright, and in 1996, President Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act, which denies federal acknowledgment of homosexual matrimonies ( Wolf, 2/98 p3 ) . The province of Vermont is besides on the forepart page when it comes to the homosexual matrimony motion. In a Vermont Supreme Court determination in December of 1999, Chief Justice Jeffrey L. Amestoy told the province legislative assembly either to supply licences or put up a domestic spouse system ââ¬Å"extending all or most of the same rights and duties provided by jurisprudence to married partnersâ⬠( France, 2/2000 p1 ) . The courtââ¬â¢s determination was a immense win for advocates of cheery matrimony, nevertheless, it has non granted an existent matrimony licence yet, which is what a twosome will truly necessitate in the eyes of federal and other province Torahs. The latest and likely hottest argument over this issue has been in California. In the beginning of March 2000, California electors approved a ballot step acknowledging merely those matrimonies between work forces and adult females ( Tharp, 3/2000 p1 ) . Entitled Proposition 22, this ballot won by a 61-39 per centum border. Until this point, province jurisprudence had required California to formalize brotherhoods lawfully performed in other provinces. This prohibition, nevertheless, will do any same-sex brotherhood shut-in in California. Ironically, same-sex matrimonies are non presently legal anyplace in the United States. Therefore, Proposition 22 is rather perchance # 8220 ; leaping the gun. # 8221 ; Oppositions of P-22 province that # 8220 ; homosexuals # 8217 ; right to get married, though rejected by most churches, should be preserved in secular society # 8212 ; and an individualistic tradition that impedes political organisations # 8221 ; ( Egelko, 3/3000 p3 ) . It has besides been called # 8220 ; barbaric # 8221 ; and # 8220 ; mean-spirited. # 8221 ; The persons who have been endorsing this type of statute law include conservativists and spiritual leaders who have historically been sabotaging the basic single rights of homosexuals and tribades for old ages ; a fact that makes it really hard to believe this is non an effort to ache or know apart against homosexual and sapphic people. Whether the recent statute law is anti-gay or pro-straight is still to be decided. One thing is apparent, though, it highlights an anxiousness that may really good be produced by the matrimonial province of our current society. As Naomi Wolf provinces in her article # 8220 ; Scenes from a Gay Marriage # 8221 ; : With 50 per centum of first matrimonies stoping in divorce, the establishment of consecutive matrimony has broken down. Escalating the heterosexual anxiousness is the realisation that merely as consecutive people want out of matrimony, cheery people want in. And this is bring forthing in heterosexual America a really existent lower status composite. This may be a really true statement. Is it possible that heterosexual America frights that homosexual matrimonies will be a new and better brotherhood than those of the yesteryear? Through the recent actions of many United States legislative assemblies and from the inexorable anti-gay remarks so many Americans hear and say every twenty-four hours, it seems as though there isn # 8217 ; t much hope left for equal rights and equal intervention of homophiles, allow entirely homosexual and sapphic twosomes who hope to be joined in matrimony. The issue will really probably travel on, much fueled by a argument of right and incorrect and morality versus scientific discipline. However, a few facts still remain. Homosexuality will go on to be a manner of life in out American civilization. Unfortunately, it will go on to be degraded, until we as a society return cold difficult stairss against that favoritism. Fear and ignorance will ever be abundant in America to fuel arguments over other people # 8217 ; s picks, much like this argument over cheery matrimony. Something to truly believe about though is the thought that matrimony is intended as a integrity and a womb-to-tomb committedness of love. Ironically, a prohibition on merely that is slightly of an oxymoron. As a society, we need to alter the negative traditions of our civilization from discriminatory to accepting. Douglas F. Nissing, an Episcopal priest officiates at cheery committedness ceremonials. After depicting one of his recent ceremonials, he states the followers: God was genuinely present. How could God be absent when there is such love? Every loving twosome deserves the chance to hold such a jubilation. Yet the church, and many others continue to state that cheery people don # 8217 ; t merit this chance. This attitude is straight responsible for making and back uping an environment in which hatred and bias can take root and grow. It is clip that we let the universe know that love transcends the narrow vision that our brothers and sisters frequently preach. Curate Nissing is right. It is clip for our civilization, no affair how traditional, to halt furthering lines of hatred and fear and alternatively alteration focal point to apprehension and love, no affair what sort of love it may be. Social Impact Of The Internet Essays - Geography Of Asia
Social Impact Of The Internet Essays - Geography Of Asia Social Impact Of The Internet Introduction The advent of Internet communication technology is in and of itself, a positive move toward overall global advancement, but the costly social impact is what concerns Lebanese families and sociologists alike. This fear is further amplified by the anticipated social disintegration that may result. The positive aspects of the Internet: As a result of the Internet there is almost nothing that cannot be accomplished from the comfort of one's own home; grocery shopping, buying merchandise, paying bill, researching for term papers and even striking up relationships with people half way across the world. Communication, which once consisted of putting pen to paper, has now been reduced to a few key strokes and a click of a mouse; indeed, people are able to correspond via E-mail faster and easier than traditional mail services could ever hope to offer. The positive aspects of the Internet are immeasurable and go without saying; this paper's focus is on the negative effects of the Internet. The social impact: A. Alienation: Alienation from institutions such as the family, education and places of work may result from the following factors: Lack of face-to-face socialisation is turning into a considerable problem for those who have locked themselves inside the anonymity of their computers. Indeed studies have shown the tendency for people to become significantly stressed, depressed and lonely with each hour spent in the obscure world of Internet chatting. Because there is proof to substantiate the claim that the longer people spend chatting on the Internet the less sociable they become, a considerable amount of further research must be done to determine the extent of damage this has on society. It is clear that even though Internet chat rooms provide much the same interactive approach to socialisation, the social implication is that it gravely lacks the in-person connection required in order for people to develop acceptable social skills. This will also affect negatively the way young teenagers socialise with family members, friends and strangers in society. The reason of this concern is the closely-knit society that we live in; Arab society dictates strong interpersonal relationships whether be it with family members or friends. So as we can see, lack of face to face interaction will result in a fair amount of stress on the fragile Lebanese society, which a large part of it is based on an emotional relationship with each other, and as Patai wrote the Arab nation as an Arab family. B. Loss of own culture: In a critical time where social integration is high on the agenda in post war Lebanon, the Lebanese society is finding itself competing not only with the existing forces of disintegration, but also with a new unanticipated one. The Internet introduces an invasion of western cultures into the homes of unsuspecting parents, which may lead to a loss of one's own culture and adopting a new foreign one. The adoption of a new culture will cause the general public to resist this change, thus the consequences will lead the youth to feel rejected and further amplify the already existing social problem of alienation from society as a whole. This alienation from the Arab culture will lead the youth to strongly get attached to the new culture that they have adopted, which will again translate into a disastrous disintegration. C. Loss of identity: Having mentioned the factors that may lead to alienation and loss of culture, it follows that these factors will also lead to a loss of identity. In a time where national identity plays an important role in the social integration of Lebanon, we cannot afford to let such a new force as the Internet to destroy what we've been trying to build, and there are some results of our efforts, for example, Qanna, Arnoun, and recently Jezzine and the Asian basket ball tournament where Lebanon won. Watching these incidents unfold in front of me, gave me hope for a united Lebanon, since incidents like these were so hard to come by before, now we are seeing more and more social integration between all factions in Lebanon. Seeing all this, and getting a sense of nationalism I also get the shocking news about the Internet and its effects on our society, did you know that 85%

Professional Orientation and Practice Coursework
Professional Orientation and Practice - Coursework Example The bid to privatise the sector was triggered by the 2003 Railway Act, allowing for private management of the services (Cassady, Maillart, Bowden & Smith 1998). The UK railway tracks are public owned and maintained by Network Rail; however, privately owned rail tracks also exist in tourist areas. To help manage the train services, the government appoints train-operating companies (TOCs). TOCs are awarded franchise to offer train commuter services depending on the validity of the license given. This means that a given TOC can only operate within certain time limit as dictated by the licenses awarded. Now, TOC that provide that are licensed to offer these services are many in number (Tobin 2012). Nevertheless, the increasing cost of trail fares has been a major concern within the sector, within many opting to use other alternatives (ââ¬Å"Britain Has Worlds Highest Rail Prices ââ¬â Survey 1997â⬠). Competition brought about by the many TOCs has brought the need by individual b usinesses involved to put in place measures to ensure stability and profitability. On this matter, many TOCs franchised to offer their services are seeking ways of reducing costs in order to appeal and attract more customers. In order to maintain sustainability, TOCs operating within the United Kingdom believe that the best way is to maintain the existing fleet. Major part of the revenue is used in maintaining the fleets and carrying out inspection of infrastructures like rail tracks. Therefore, much train operating companies hold on to the fact that maintain ace is a priority in the sector. Presently, rail infrastructure has greatly been improved as is evident by the increase in speed train (Tobin 2012). Just as mentioned above, the major challenge lies with the need for each company to come up with measures to improve service delivery. For this reason, each of the companies is in a process of finding the best decisions that would offer competitive edge over the rest (Chaudhuri & S uresh 1995). TOC- London Midland Background London Midland is one of UKââ¬â¢s train operating companies, having an 867.4 kilometers of rail to cover. The main train operations of the company are carried out within the West Coast Mainline. It is also important to note that its franchise expires in June 2017 after it was extended from the initial date of September 2015. According to the information available in the companyââ¬â¢s website, London Midlands Express and London Midland City are the main brands that are used in operations. London Midland makes its money from the sales of tickets to passengers. Now, customers are charged ?25 for every 100 miles of travel. According to the plans by the company, 60,000,000 passenger miles should be served per year, something that translates to 600,000 passengers per year. However, achieving this is guaranteed, as many potential customers prefer other means of transport because of uncertain economic times brought about by the recession. Th e company needs to make a decision whether to raise or lower the tickets by ?5. In order to bring the issue into perspective, it would important to note that London Midland company has numerous competitors like Cross Country, Euro star, East Coast, First Hull Trains, and Scot Rail, among others, and must thus make decisions that stand to boost its chances to survive in the market. Lowering the price by ?2
