Compare and Contrast Essay free essay sample

The differences between a narrative and a descriptive essay determine the way in which the reader receives the story. The purpose of each is still very clear, to connect to the reader using story telling. In order for the reader to receive the story as intended, the author must create a clear picture of; events, settings, and purpose. In both pieces that I read, â€Å"Fish Cheeks† and â€Å"Caged Bird†, both writers were able to do this- each in their own way. The first difference between Fish Cheeks and Caged Birds is the format of the literature. Amy Tan in Fish Cheeks chose to write a short descriptive essay (Tan, 2013). While Maya Angelou wrote in Caged Bird, a narrative in a poem format (Angelou, 1983). Each individual artist had a certain way in which, they wanted to express a significant event that they have learned throughout their life. I felt that it was easier to relate to Amy Tans message because she had taken her story from a past personal experience. Lastly, New Orleans night life is full of fun. There is something to do every day of the week not Just on weekends. The night life starts at around 12:AMA and could last until 5:AMA when the clubs and bars close. Since New Orleans Is a party city the people are totally different from Baton Rouge people. New Orleans people are more about going out frequently to have a good time, spend unnecessary money, and compete with the next person to look good. They are so caught up in trying to live the Glamorous life that they dont realize they are spending more than average and begin living beyond their means. As far as Baton Rouge, the food Is less tasteful because a lot of Ingredients that re used in New Orleans are not sold in Baton Rouge thats needed for certain foods. The spicy and Cajun food in Baton Rouge is not as spicy as the Cajun and spicy food in New Orleans. Certain Food such as Hot Sausage can only be found in as links but in New Orleans you can find both links and patties. Another point that makes the two cities different is the type of music that most people listen to. In Baton Rouge they have they own type of style of music which Is called GIG music.Gig music Is quite different from bounce music which Is played In New Orleans. Bounce can be slow or fast and its made from RB and Hip Hop when Gig music is fast paced music that can only be on a fast beat to get you wound up, sweaty, and itll have your heart racing. A lot of yelling throughout the songs in Gig music is done. Now, as far as the Baton Rouge people night life and way of living, Its a huge difference between the two clues. The people In Baton Rouge do not party Monday thru Friday like in New Orleans and when they do party everything shuts down at 2:AMA.This means they have to start their night life at around 2:AMA. Since they only party two to three times per week they are able to save more money. Last but not least, Baton Rouge residents in my opinion live a much more secure and safe life. One reason being is that they are more family oriented. Their priorities are lines up because they are not too much as worrying about partying because of the limited opportunity and they are not trying to keep up with the next person. Therefore, Baton Rouge people can spend Orleans person. In conclusion, you can see how different the city of New Orleans and the city of Baton Rouge are as I have described the abundance of differences. I can honestly say if youre a person thinking for the future and not the present, Baton Rouge would be a better place to become financially stable and raise a better family then in New Orleans. At the end of the day there are many more ways the two cities of Baton Rouge and New Orleans are different that would make this list go on and on. Both cities are great in their own way. It Just all comes down to what you as a person want to do in life.
