Banning Smoking in public places
Banning Smoking in public places Banning Smoking in public places Have you ever stopped to think about the dangers of smoking? Did you ever put in your consideration about other people who are affected by your smoking? Many people think that smoking gives them the feeling of satisfaction and happiness. Other people thinks that smoking makes the to calm down when they are angry, but all of this is nonsense. Smoking is a picked up as a habit by the youth in an unusual way. This habit risks their life and makes them prone to dreadful diseases. So if you are keen to kill yourself, then its your own choice, but, your freedom ends when other peoples freedom begins. Smoking is a very dangerous activity done by most of the people around the world which causes several health, environmental, and social problems. As a result, the WHO decided to pass a law to prohibit smoking in public places to protect people and the environment from the dangers of smoking. Heavy smokers are likely to health problems which they cant figure it out until it reaches a late stage. Researches made by scientists proofed that tobacco is one of the most addictive substances on earth. Every cigarette a smoker smokes supplies the body with great amounts of carcinogen and hazardous chemical substances. ââ¬Å"A heavy smoker, who usually consume from 1 to 2 packs of cigarettes per day inhales 150,000 dose of poisonous smoke yearly.â⬠[1]These Toxic compounds are formed when tobacco reacts with fire. Therefore Nicotine and the other dangerous chemicals formed while smoking are the most harmful things in cigarettes which causes severe health problems. Another Dangerous health problem caused by smoking is Lung Cancer. This is because cigarettes contain over 80 different cancer-causing substances. Scientists showed that these substances could damage the bodys DNA and change their characteristics. This process leads the cells to grow and multiply out of control causing blockage in vital areas in the lung. A smoker could avoid all of these problems and live at ease just by giving up smoking. The pollution caused by cigarettes does not stop in our bodies or the air; it also affects the land we live on and the water that we drink. Millions of cigarette butts are thrown onto the ground every day. They finally end up in the rivers and lakes where fish and animals -by mistake- eat them and quite often die from it. The rest are left on the ground to decompose which will take an average of 25 years while all of the chemicals and additives leach into the ground and pollute the soil and the plants. If you are going to smoke please consider this information before your throw your cigarette butts on the ground. It looks unattractive, it is a major fire hazard in dry weather, and it is extremely harmful to the environment. Another impacting aspect of cigarettes is in producing them. The land used for growing the tobacco all over the world could be used for planting trees or food for starving children in the 3rd worlds countries. Tobacco plants are often sprayed with great amounts of harmful pesticides and chemicals as tobacco is very fragile plant and likely to pick up disease. A lot of trees are also used in producing and packing cigarettes. They use 4 miles of paper an hour just for rolling and packaging cigarettes. Every 100 cigaratte produced waste in the other hand a tree. The trees used in the cigarettes could be filtering out the pollutants found in the air instead of being chopped down for manufacturing a new cigarette. Cigarette smokers have a common belief between them. They think that they only hurt themselves, in fact they hurt all the people surrounding them, people they love and the environment. Your freedom ends when the freedom of others begins. This say delivers the meaning directly. It means that its prohibited to go beyond others scope. This means smokers cant take the action of smoking only if he isnt going to hurt anyone around him. As a result, some countries governments decided to completely ban smoking in public areas to protect the environment and people from the dangers caused by the smokers. A great number of mostly developed countries have enacted bans on smoking in public places or workplaces since the early 2000s. The first building in the world to have a smoke-free policy was the Old Government Building in Wellington, New Zealand in 1876. In 1990, the city of San Luis Obispo, California, became the first city in the world to ban indoor smoking at all public places, including bars and restaurants. Arguably by allowing smoking in public places it is the freedom of non-smokers that is being restricted. By smoking in public the smoker is forcing everyone in the vicinity to smoke too, perhaps there should be signs everywhere reading ââ¬Ëpublic smoking area only. This banning prohibition law was in the interest of non-smokers as they are able now to go to public buildings and finish their official transac tions without being hurt by smokers around them. There are 3 million victims yearly in the world die on account of cigarette smoking. Why dont we all start from today to reduce the numbers of smokers to protect our lives from the slow killing substance called tobacco? Why dont we start living green and stop affecting ourselves and our environment from the smoking circumstances? A problem that needs to pause and re-calculations so that we would not target and regret for what happened as a result of smoking. Effect of Acids and Bases Essay -- English Literature Essays
Effect of Acids and Bases Experiments to Determine the Effect of Acids & Bases on Different Indicators and the pH of Common Cleaning Agents The aim of the first set of experiments is to find out and record the colour changes that are observed after a certain indicator is mixed with acids and bases to form a colour reaction. Once the selected indicator has been mixed with a acid that is both weak and strong and a base/alkali that is both weak and strong we are to record the colour and choose another indicator. The purpose of this experiment is to find out what indicators are sensitive to what areas of the pH colour spectrum, while also looking how Universal Indicator covers most areas of the pH spectrum generally but much less accurately. The aim for the second experiment is to find out the pH levels of different domestic cleaners and then studying the results. The main purpose of this experiment is that it gives an insight to whether cleaners are basic or acidic for our general knowledge. The only predictions I made on the first experiment was that know what colour would be shown after the reaction with the Universal Ind icator. This was because I already had the pH chart for this indicator with me to confirm colours vs. pH. I did make a prediction on the second experiment which was that almost all of the cleaners would have a different pH level. I thought this because all of the domestic cleaners are suited to remove different things such as grease and mould and for th...

Dreams for My Future: College and Beyond Essay
My dreams and aspirations to go to college and further enhance my knowledge have always been with me since I was child. Both my parents taught me that I have to use my mind if I want to lead a happy and prosperous life without any problems, and that has always been my motivation to persevere, no matter how difficult the road may be. After high school I will attend a university and continue my education further in the field of computer engineering. With that, I will apply in various careers involving my major, such as in the business, automobile, video game and software industries. My goal is to have both a successful and fulfilling career that I can be happy with while still supporting a small family of my own and living the American dream. My intentions are to help the general populace by providing more efficient computer systems and software because I know we live in an age where computers are very important and dominating all industries with handling information. I know that we all live in a time where technology has become essential to human life, so if I can make a positive impact with my major, then thatââ¬â¢s what I am going to do. Having a strong, fun career and having a wonderful family has always been a priority to me and I have been taking every step and precaution along the way to ensure that I meet these goals timely and productively. With help from the Apple Scholarship Foundation, I can meet my goals with more relative ease and I can worry less about any monetary hardships that I might encounter. I believe that I deserve this scholarship because I have always worked diligently in and out of school my entire life preparing myself to be a part of society. Without the assistance of this scholarship(s), going to college and achieving my goals will be that much more difficult. My father is the only source of income in my family and unfortunately, I cannot rely on him to make a monetary contribution to my college education. Scholarships havenââ¬â¢t just been optional, but are necessary in aiding my goal of going to college. With the financial assistance of federal aid and scholarships I will be able to achieve my goal of attending a university. My family would not be burdened with financial troubles or be worried for my future. My future relies on the aid of this scholarship and I would be appreciative to have all the help and support that can be given.

Dibs In Search of Self essays
Dibs In Search of Self essays In most cases, play therapy is used to observe the acts of a child. Doctor Axline used play therapy with Dibs to help him feel more comfortable. In the room she could have observed him and how he interacted with the items. If she were in her office, she might not have had any luck in helping him. The environment of a play therapy room must be familiar to the patient. The room would have to contain materials for the child to play with. The room described in the book had a sandbox, dollhouse, paints, and various other toys. The dollhouse was used to simulate Dibs home life. He could speak through the dolls without having to entirely open up. The paints let him express his feelings without having to use words. Before Dibs was in play therapy he did not have a good relationship with his parents. Doctor Axline immediately picked up on that when she met with Dibs mother. His mother identified him as being mentally retarded. Doctor Axline discovered how Dibs insensitive parents treated him when he was playing with the dollhouse. He observed that all the doors and windows on the house were closed. He began to repeatedly say No closed doors, in a harsh voice. Doctor Axline later understood that Dibs father would send him to his room and lock the door. This was Dibs punishment for not being able to act and talk like a normal child. Dibs father was very impatient with him while his mother tried her hardest to help him. When Dibs was in play therapy he had more freedom than he had at his home. Doctor Axline let him be himself without being disciplined for it. This made him open up to her. She was no longer a stranger to him. She was someone he felt that no matter when he did around h er, he would never get in trouble for doing it. This helped Dibs in becoming more open about his feelings and emotions. He was more enjoyable at home. His paren...

Impearlism essays
Impearlism essays Prior to the arrival of the United States in China, most of the Chinese populations were farmers who farmed rice fields in the countryside. Production was good, children respected their elders, and the Chinese culture was maintained. But as the century passed, their native society was either destroyed or replaced. During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the United States pursued an aggressive policy of expansionism, extending its political and economic influence around the globe. The U.S attempted to gain influence in China, but were not entirely successful. The purpose of this paper is to inform about imperialism and how the United States took correct action in becoming an imperialistic nation. During the actual century of Western Imperialism, the Chinese economy was crushed; but when the wars were over, a new and better economy had formed. The wars China fought with foreign countries were costly and left the Chinese government in dept, especially since nearly all the wars and battles, including the Boxer Rebellion, fought were defeats for the Chinese. Following each defeat, China was forced to sign an agreement, such as the Peace of Peking following the Boxer Rebellion, which usually led to the Chinese paying large sums of money to foreign countries, or China being cheated in trades. But as tension and conflicts diminished, the U.S style economy was brought to China, which was generally quite successful. China was introduced to a better banking system, an export market, trade with the rest of the world, and new innovations that allowed better production of crops and other things. So in spite of the economic disaster during the 19th century, Imperialism actually significan tly improved the Chinese economy. The social ideas and religious practices of the Chinese were replaced with Christianity, brought by the U.S. But despite these loses, we also did a favor or two for China. We introduced unseen innovations to the...

Boethius Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Boethius - Essay Example In this case, the infallible providence of God is privy to all future events and whatever actions a rational creature sets out to do have actually been predetermined. However, this is going against the concept of freedom of choice, this is because the premise for legitimate free will would comprise of a non-predetermined course of things since freedom can be loosely defined as a the will by a rational creature to determine its own life and destiny independently. Thus, concisely if God is all knowing, cannot be wrong, and he knows of the human destiny and future action, then it translates that manââ¬â¢s future is predetermined in Gods knowledge of its occurrence and in these premise the concept of free will is fallacious. Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius is one of the sages who have had significant impact on this debate; he posited a solution for this problem which he claims was shown to him in a vision by lady philosophy while he was locked up in prison. On free will he says the fact that humans are capable of reasoning means they possess free will, reason enables them to make logical judgments which translate to decisions (Flew, 175). Therefore, they have the ability and capacity to decide what should be included or excluded from their lives. He further classifies freedom thus; humans are freest when contemplating philosophically and least free when engaged in addictive behavior and bound in earthly fetters. However lady philosophy tells him that, God can foresee our future and puts everyone in the situations that are best fitted for their present needs in his infinite and infallible wisdom. However, this begs the question which had been earlier discussed before that, if the infallible God knows our actions and it is impossible that he is wrong, how then can we claim to have free will, this is because to justify perfect foresight, either what is going to happen must be foresees by him or what he sees must invariably come to pass, nevertheless in either ca se, human freedom is nullified. The solution offered by lady philosophy and which Boethius proposes is that God does not ââ¬Å"knowâ⬠or see things in the same way as man, he is eternal and the past present and future are simultaneous to him. He does not exist in the same temporal dimensions as humans thus despite the fact that tomorrow is yet to be, he sees it as we do the present, therefore he knows what will happen without directing it to happen (Flew 176). à Therefore, the knowledge of God transcends all that is in the temporal and spatial realms as perceived by man and it exists in the simplicity of a simple present, thus Gods knowledge is not future knowledge but awareness of a consistent present. In other words, one should not think of providence as the causative agent in the cause of things, they happen independently and providence only foresees them because they will happen not to make them happen. In my opinion, Boethiusââ¬â¢ reasoning is not tenable, his argume nts go round in circles and coming back to the same point, because he wants to justify two diametrically opposed ideas and makes it appear that both are logical. At the end of the day, if we agree God all knows, his transcendence of time will not change the fact that humans are immersed in it, thus events in his continuous present are occur to humans in different times. Thus, the fact that thing happen as they do, and God presumably is aware of them means free will remains and illusion. However, to borrow from a biblical reasoning, God knows an individual even when they are in

Decisions in Paradise, Part III Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Decisions in Paradise, Part III - Essay Example The creation of a strong brand is vital because it facilitates the market penetration. Marketing involves the employment of all the necessary platforms of promotion and advertising with the SNSs offering a better platform for communication. Social media p latforms offer the opportunity for collection of feedback. Traditionally, feedback collection of products released in the market was hard to obtain owing to the nature of information sharing systems. The company must develop a social communication network between consumers to market and develop new ideas and services. The success of the company in communication with consumers helps to develop loyalty. Ethical implication of the proposed models actions Stakeholder involvement in the actions to be undertaken by the company will be based on the financial implication of the approach.
